Celebrate Cayo Costa Day! will be held at the island state park this Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Affordable all-inclusive tickets feature round-trip boat transportation from three departure points, all activities and a barbecue lunch catered by BIG NICK’s BBQ.

“This is a great opportunity to visit the park by boat and enjoy the unique amenities this pristine barrier island has to offer. We thank our charter boat sponsors for providing transportation so that visitors, some of whom have never had a chance to come out, can learn more about the Park’s fascinating history and walk the sandy beaches and trails,” stated Nancy MacPhee, Friends of Cayo Costa chairperson.

The day will feature tours of the island, including a walk to the Pioneer Family Cemetery, as well as nature and shelling beach walks. Displays by DEP, FWC, Audubon of SWFL, Calusa Land Trust, C.R.O.W. and the Barrier Island Parks Society will also be featured. Park staff will be presenting information about the state park. Families can try their hand at palm weaving and a variety of shell crafts or just visit the beach!

Visitors will enjoy a tram ride across the mile wide island where activities will be held near the campground.

Tickets are $50 for adults and $40 for children under the age of 12 and members of Friends of Cayo Costa. The all-inclusive price includes transportation to and from the island, all activities and a catered lunch. The event will take place rain or shine.

Sponsors include Captiva Cruises, Tropic Star & Kingfisher Fleet tour boat services, which are offering roundtrip transportation (included with admission on a limited, first-come, first-serve basis). Attendees are encouraged to reserve early.

Adventures in Paradise is generously providing transportation for volunteers who will work the event.
