Thursday, Aug. 5 Mahjongg Scores
On Thursday, Aug. 5, there were 5 mahjongg players at the St. James City Civic Center. The SJCCA Board of Directors took a vote after the latest CDC COVID recommendations came out and it was a unanimous decision to mandate anyone entering into the center and participating to be masked the entire time.
As a result, we also discontinued our “Snack & Chat.”
We implemented a new addition to our scoring. If a player gives MJ to another player, who has 3, plus, exposures, they will receive minus 25 points. This will keep you on your toes and help you to play a tighter defensive game.
Remember if you cannot win, you ensure that no one else does!
Kathy Richardson, took first place honors today with her score of 100 points. Our second place honoree is Paula Bruckner with 95 points. Rounding out the high scores was Clem Moors with her score of 80 points.
Due to the smaller group of players willing to ensure COVID safety and wear a mask, we are asking players to call Paula at (516) 729-3382 no later than the Tuesday just prior to our Thursday game if you CANNOT join us. This way we will know if we have enough players for a game. If not, Paula will call the others and we will not open up for MJ.
