A vaccine fact sheet that the group will be distributing at MangoMania was the focus of discussion at the July 5 meeting of the Pine Island COVID-19 Task Force.

This fact sheet, which will be handed out at the Task Force booth during the event, reads:

Did you know?

• 96% of all U.S. physicians are vaccinated.

• Over 180 million Americans have been safely vaccinated.

• 99% of the 18,000 patients currently hospitalized with COVID have not been vaccinated.

• 99% of the current COVID deaths are in unvaccinated people.

• None of the COVID vaccines contain any live virus.

• The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines contain Messenger RNA (mRNA). mRNA simply delivers instructions to the immune system for how to fight the virus. Once its job is done, it breaks down and leaves the body within 24 hours.

• mRNA does not enter the nucleus of the cell where the DNA is located.

• mRNA technology has been used for 2 decades. It has been used to develop cancer treatments.

• The COVID virus can mutate inside any infected individual even if they have no symptoms. As the virus passes from person to person, these mutations may enable the virus to reconfigure itself to avoid the vaccine.

• An important reason to be vaccinated is to prevent mutations or “variants” that can spread throughout the community, causing more heartbreak, more school and business closures, and additional “booster” vaccinations.

The Task Force stresses: “Protect yourself, your loved ones, and our Pine Island community. Let’s all get vaccinated!”

MangoMania will be held Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, at 10360 Stringfellow Rd, St James City, FL 33956.
