2 min read

BARTOW – The Florida Department of Transportation, District One, has launched an online questionnaire to obtain community input for the Pine Island Road (CR 78) Shared Use Path Feasibility Study in Lee County.

The questionnaire can be accessed through the project website at: www.swflroads.com/pineislandroad/sharedusepath/. The questionnaire is available until Friday, July 16.

The study evaluates the feasibility of a shared use path along Pine Island Road from Stringfellow Road to Veterans Memorial Parkway. The study will determine the feasibility of constructing a safe, viable, non-motorized travel option for commuters and recreational users of Pine Island Road, while minimizing effects to the natural, cultural, social, and physical environment. As a part of this project, FDOT has formed a Project Advisory Group that consists of agencies and stakeholders. The PAG will meet throughout the study to assist in identifying issues, opportunities, and potential solutions for the corridor. The first meeting took place in April 2021.

With this questionnaire, FDOT is asking for additional information from the public. For more information on what was discussed at the PAG meeting, visit the project website.
