Beacon of Hope activities for June

The Beacon of Hope has announced the classes, activities and programs for the month of June. The Beacon is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Computers, a fax and printer are available for use.
– The Food Bank – Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The Emergency Pantry is available when the Beacon is open.
– Wellness Committee – Monday, June 14, at 10 a.m.
– Strange Arrangement – Monday, 6-7:30 p.m. Lessons given. A musical experience.
– Funds/Communications meeting – Monday, June, at 10 a.m.
– Grants Committee meeting – Thursday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m.
– Pine Island Cares – Wednesday, July 7, at 10 a.m.
– GED classes are on Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
– ESOL class started Thursday, April 1, from 3-4:30 pm. This will be ongoing every Thursday.
– The Attic (Thrift Store) will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations may be brought during these times. Tuesday July 6, will be 50% off “almost everything” day.
Wellness articles are now available on the Beacon Website, beaconofhopepineisland.com. These articles are changed every couple of weeks. Past articles are archived. The present series is on spices (there was an article on garlic, the new one is on ginger with turmeric to follow).
Tickets are being sold for Beacon Scratch Madness. This is a board with a $100 bill and $250 worth of scratch-offs. Tickets are $5 each and the drawing will be held at the American Legion on July 4. The proceeds benefit the Beacon of Hope.
