Larry Solinger of the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, along with wife Linda, who manned the front gate to welcome event goers and take donations for the Mullet Toss registration, said the turn out for this year’s IslandFest event was great.

“Everybody’s enjoying themselves and the weather couldn’t have been better,” said Larry. “The community has really come out and it’s been a lot of fun so far.”

“I’m so happy people are coming out enjoy themselves,” said Linda.

Beth Sowers of the chamber already has her eyes set on next year’s event.

“It was an incredible day. We really weren’t sure what to expect as last year’s event was on the cusp of COVID and this year’s event was in the early stages of events starting back up,” she said. “But the community really came out in full support of IslandFest.

“The turnout was exceptional, we had great support from our members, the Lee County Parks Department was extremely helpful, and the weather couldn’t have been better,” Sowers continued. “Now it’s time to start thinking about 2022 and taking the event to the next level.”
