In one fell swoop on Saturday, Feb. 13, the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the Matlacha Hookers, Nauti-Tiki Seasonings and Villa’s Insurance Group, welcoming islanders to give blood, grab lunch, check out the new chamber digs and peruse a menu of insurance options.

Chamber member Beth Sowers said no matter what you came to do, the event was a great success.

“The purpose of the event was to restore some of the depleted blood supply in the Lee County community,” said Sowers. “They were able to fill all the appointments for the day, which was a great turnout. The meet-and-greet was about opening the office to the community to show them the new chamber office and provide information about many of its members and things going on across the island.

“Villa’s Insurance Group was there to introduce himself to the community and inform them of insurance opportunities available to the island.”

The corner of Pine Island Road and Stringfellow, she said, was packed all day, as people came to grab some barbecue and give blood or talk to chamber members.

“You can always depend on this community to come together, and support every effort, whether donating blood or supporting the move to the chamber and being a part of the organization. It’s wonderful to know they’re always here…whatever the event, whatever the need, ” said Sowers.

The address of the new chamber Welcome Center is 10530 Stringfellow Road, suite 3, Bokeelia (at Pine Island Center). For additional information about the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, please call 239-283-0888.
