2 min read

After canceling its December book sale because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Friends of the Pine Island Library have re-imagined the February book sale. The Friends will offer an already packed up paper grocery bag full of books for a drive-through pick-up.

The pick-up will be in the parking lot of the Pine Island United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $5 per bag minimum is suggested. Payment must be exact and in cash.

Bag of books are in the following categories of reading pleasure:

• Mystery/suspense

• General fiction

• History/biograph/memoir

• Romance

• Cookbooks

• Sports

• Arts/crafts

Your bag (or several bags) must be ordered ahead of time by emailing BookSale@FriendsofPILibrary.org. In your email, please let the Friends know your name, phone number, how many bags of books you would like, and in what categories. If you do not have email, please call 305-849-1865 and leave a message with your name and phone number and that you are calling for the bag of books sale.

Bag of book orders must be made by Feb 17. On Feb. 20, your bag(s) of books will be brought to your car and Friends will take your payment. When you get home, open the bag and find it full of surprise selections to read.

Tell your family, friends, and neighbors! This fundraiser benefits the Friends of the Pine Island Library.

The Friends support the Pine Island Library’s summer reading program, the popular BookPage, the Southwest Florida Reading Festival in March, as well as future Friends adult and youth community programs.
