Holiday House of Hope 2020 this weekend
Beacon of Hope Board member Elsie Stearns would like to remind everyone that the 11th Annual Holiday House of Hope is this coming Friday, Dec. 4, from 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 5, from 4-9 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 6, 1-4 p.m.
The event is open to the public and will be held at the historic Tarpon Lodge at 13771 Waterfront Drive in Pineland.
“The weather is supposed to be beautiful, but brisk,” said Stearns. “The Matlacha Hookers will be caroling on Saturday night and J. Soul is going to play the violin on Sunday.”
Stearns said there will be masks available as well as strongly recommended for participants and social distancing will be encouraged at this outdoor event.
“A lot of events have been cancelled for these vendors, so they’re very excited to be there participating,” she said.
Stearns said the Beacon has been given a $10,000 grant and welcomes anyone to match the funds, in an effort to make up for revenue lost during the past year.
“The Beacon Thrift Store was closed for weeks and opened with limited hours,” said Stearns. “The success of this years’ event is more important than ever before.”
For anyone who would like to make a donation to the Beacon, but feels uncomfortable coming to the event, Stearns said, donations can be made at the Centennial Bank drive-thru.
“Address the check to the Beacon of Hope and the envelope to Elsie Stearns and send it in,” said Stearns, adding that she’s happy to take anonymous donations as well.
During the Holiday House of Hope, the Tarpon Lodge will be open for dinner and the bar will be open serving drinks. Dinner reservations are strongly recommended; call 239-283-3999.
