Pine Island Community Christmas Boat Parade Dec. 12

The Pine Island Community Christmas Boat Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, in St. James City at 6 p.m.
The parade theme is “Celebrate.” Due to all islanders have experienced for the past 8 months, it is time to “Celebrate,” something islanders have not done in quite some time.
All community members, boat clubs, organizations and businesses are invited to participate.
The 2020 parade will use the same route as 2019.
It is important to note the parade will stage and start north of the Waterfront Restaurant and Marina on the Henley Canal. The parade will proceed up Cherry Estates Canal and into the canal that runs east and west between North Royal Palm Drive and Trailer Park Drive, but will not pass north of this canal. The parade will continue down the Monroe Canal and end just before the channel narrows north of the Low Key Tiki.
It is important for those who have historically viewed the parade from the Waterfront Restaurant and Marina later in the evening to arrive before the parade starts (6 p.m.).
The boat line up begins at 4 p.m. on the Henley Canal in the staging area north of the Waterfront Restaurant and Marina.
The Captain’s meeting will be held Friday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Ragged Ass Saloon, which is located at 3421 Stringfellow Road in St. James City.
New for this year and a benefit for those who would like to participate from other areas, the management of the Waterfront Restaurant has offered dock space on first-come first-served availability to decorate their vessels. After the parade, the management of the Ragged Ass Saloon, and Low Key Tiki have offered their docks to vessels that participated in the parade to leave them overnight for pick up the next morning.
Should the parade be cancelled due to weather or other circumstances, the parade will be rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m.
