Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District Chief Ben Mickuleit says he’s already met with both new fire commissioners, Neil Price, who was appointed earlier this year and then elected to seat two, and Jamie DeLacey, who was elected to seat one the board.
“We had a very positive meeting last week,” said Mickuleit of DeLacey. “She brings some very positive ideas to the district. The future looks very positive. She really wants to be involved and proactive for the district.”
He added that “The members of the district would also like to thank Ila Valcarcel for stepping into the vacant seat and bringing some great ideas to improve the district.”
Although he said it was a short term for Valcarcel, he said he’s pleased to have had the chance to work with her for the past few months.
Mickuleit would like everyone to know that his door is always open for questions, concerns and comments.
“Anyone can stop by or give us a call,” said Mickuleit. “We are always available to address any concerns from the public.”
Chief Mickuleit’s office is at Station 1, 5700 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia. Call 239-283-0030 for information.
