On Tuesday, Dec. 1, the Beacon of Hope is once again participating in “GivingTuesday.”

“GivingTuesday” is a global movement created in 2012 as a way to unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities.

According to Beacon of Hope director Nancy Buthman, the closure of the Beacon thrift store through COVID-19 caused a major financial setback that the board is hoping to make up with this day set aside for generosity toward non-profit organizations.

“We’re hoping this will help cover the salaries of our case managers and everyday things like our mortgage,” said Buthman, who said there are more people being fed now and more people with financial needs such as rent.

Although the pandemic caused the cancellation of many fundraising events and activities, the needs of the people continue. To find out how you can donate on GivingTuesday visit BeaconOfHopePineIsland.com and search the events page.
