Ballard to share Boyhood Memories during Friends of the Library cruise March 24

Join the Friends of the Pine Island Library Tuesday, March 24, to enjoy a narrated cruise through Pine Island Sound with local historian Robert Ballard. The Friends will meet at Tarpon Lodge at 12:45 p.m. to promptly board a 45-foot enclosed catamaran operated by Captiva Cruises at 1 p.m. Participants can enjoy the sights of the beautiful Pine Island Sound, the sounds of the many birds who call the island waterways home, and the stories Ballard shares, until returning to the Tarpon Lodge at 2:30 p.m. The $50 per person fee pays for the boat and helps fund programs and activities for all Pine Islanders at the Pine Island Library. Lee County Parks & Recreation reminds swimmers that community pools temporarily will be closed Friday, Feb. 6, for annual staff training.
