Lee County Port Authority: Starting Friday, only one crosswalk will be available at RSW
The Lee County Port Authority is continuing work on terminal roadway improvements as part of the Terminal Expansion Project Phase 2 at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Starting Friday, Jan. 10, the ONLY crosswalks for passengers, visitors and employees to transit from the terminal building to the Short-term Parking Garage, Car Rental Facility and all ground transportation options, including shuttles to the Long-term Parking Lot, on-demand taxis and LeeTran buses will be Crosswalk 5 on the upper level and Crosswalks 1 and 5 on the lower level. Crosswalk 2 will be closed on the upper and lower level. See map.
Ground transportation
For those arriving at RSW who will be using the Long-term Parking shuttles, on-demand taxis/limos, hotel shuttles or LeeTran bus service, the pickup locations will be on the first floor/ground level of the parking garage. This area can be accessed by Crosswalk 1 and 5 on the arrivals/ground level.
Arrivals/ground level
Crosswalks at Doors 1 and 5 will remain open between the lower-level terminal curb and the parking garage. Passengers parking in the Short-term garage in the east (orange) section will need to follow signs and use Crosswalk 1. You will proceed through a section of the garage and then access the elevators or stairs to Level 2 or 3 to get to your car. Passengers using Crosswalk 5 will not have any changes at this time.
Departures/Level 2
Crosswalk 5 will be the ONLY direct access on the upper/departures level between the parking garage and the terminal building. Customers parking in the west (green) section of the parking garage will have no changes at this time.
Passengers parking in the east (orange) section of the Short-term Parking Garage who are traveling on Air Canada, Avelo, Cubazul, Discover, Frontier, Southwest, Sun Country or United will need to take the elevator to the ground level and follow the signs to Crosswalk 1. You will enter the terminal from the lower level and go up one level to ticketing, security checkpoints and gates.

Due to these changes, it will take a little extra time when you are using the Short-term Parking Garage and ground transportation at RSW. Drivers may want to drop off passengers at the terminal curb before parking in the garage. Please follow signage and be cautious when using the crosswalks. The Lee County Port Authority will continue to post updates on the airport’s website and Facebook to help travelers and airport users become aware of changes.
