M/PIFCD responds to structure fire in industrial park
Several fire engines responded to a possible structure fire Nov. 23 around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing from a commercial structure in the industrial park. Crews quickly deployed fire equipment to extinguish the fire.
Islander Jeanette Jones was coming out of the Beacon and saw flames at the recycling center in St. James City.
“The fire trucks were starting to pour in — they had just made the turn. I looked to the fire trucks and then turned to my right, which put me in direct line to the scrap yard and smoke was coming up from the back side of it. One truck went to the right and one truck went to the left,” Jones said.
No injuries were reported but the building had minor damage.
