Meet the Pine Island Chamber Board — Todd Combs
Todd Combs has been on Pine Island for five years. When his family moved here, he and his wife, Ashley, followed.
It wasn’t long after Combs arrived that he joined the Greater Pine Island Chamber Board. His business, Pine Island Auto Repair, had always been a part of the chamber, he said, but when he heard the chamber was looking for people to lend support, the choice to join was easy, as he said he immediately loved the community.
“Everyone has ideas to offer, but, it takes someone who’s actually willing to go do it and be a part of it, and I enjoy the events and people on the island. I see it as a way to give back,” Combs said.
So far, Combs said his role on the board has been a fun way to be a part of the community.
“I think we’re growing. We’re starting to get more events and adding different pieces, but it’s also good to see people ask what the board can do for them, or how can the board do more?” Combs said.
Something Combs particularly enjoys about being on the board is being able to lend support to Pine Island Elementary and help the children, he said.
“It’s something we’re into,” he said of himself and his wife, Ashley. “We don’t have kids so we’re thinking we can still do things for the kids.”
Combs said just another part of his joy in being on the board is watching new island businesses opening and growing.
“I’d like to watch the businesses grow and continue to be self-sustaining — you know people have these ideas they don’t think we’d ever be able to do and I like to show them that we are trying to continue to grow the island and get people to come visit while keeping it that tropical escape that everybody wants,” Combs said.
