Annette Berning
Annette Berning of Pine Island, Florida was born in the Netherlands on May 7th 1943 and passed away on May 23rd 2022 at 79 years of age in Bokeelia Florida. She grew up in Soestduinen by the dunes and forests. She lived in several different cities in Holland working so that she could travel throughout Europe. She met her husband Marv in Mallorca, Spain in 1977 and traveled for 2 years with him around the Mediterranean until departing for the Caribbean. After a year in the Caribbean, they began to split their time between Idaho and the USVI until Marv retired, when they began a series of travels around the Western United States. Ultimately deciding to be closer to the ocean, they finished their travels in Bokeelia, Florida, where they have been since 2009.
Annette enjoyed sailing, gardening and being close to the earth, reading, and classical and symphony music. She would often be found by the sound of blaring opera music each Sunday morning. She focused her life on treading lightly on this planet and living a more spiritual existence.
She leaves behind her husband Marv, daughters Seanna Johnson and Juline Zumwalt, four grandchildren, as well as brothers Robert and Leendert Sillevis and sister Frouk Matla. She will further be missed by her many friends made in many years of adventuring.
