There was a two-vehicle crash this morning on Pine Island Road.

One of the emergency crews responding was the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District.

Fire Chief Ben Mickuleit issued the following statement about the crash:

“Crews arrived on scene of a motor vehicle accident. After assessing the scene, crews found 2 vehicles involved and 3 patients. Furthermore, crews had to extricate (Jaws of Life) one patient that was trauma alerted. FHP is investigating the crash site.”

Additional details were unavalable, and the investigation is ongoing.
