Kudos to the COVID-19 vaccination team

By Staff | Jan 27, 2021

To the editor:

I have never written to a newspaper, television show, newscast or radio broadcast, but today I feel I need to express myself. Hold on to your britches…it’s all good.

I am a retired physician and my wife’s a retired nurse (can be very critical at times) and today we were one of the fortunate ones who received our first COVID-!9 vaccine. I won’t address all the customers who overloaded the phone system and didn’t get a reservation, as that was messy, but rather address the positive way the Health Department – Lee County took care of those of us who did get a reservation.

We arrived 15 minutes ahead of our scheduled arrival time and were greeted with “welcome” and “here’s where you go to check in.” From entrance into the parking lot, to entrance to the check in, the process was easy, quick and very pleasant. About five-six times, our identity was checked and other papers reviewed so only those with reservations were admitted.

EVERYONE was friendly and helpful and I was so proud of all the employees from the Health Department, County Parks and Rec, first responders and volunteers who had 24 hours to prepare. Even all the signage, some homemade, was excellent; never seen so many Home Depot 5-gallon buckets!!! We were in and out in 50 minutes!

All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and hats off to Lee County for doing such a terrific job. I’m proud of all of you!!
