Edward James Snyder
Edward James Snyder passed away at his home in Bokeelia on August 8, 2020.
Ed had called the island home since he began wintering here with his late wife Jessie, shortly after his retirement in 1982.
His 100th birthday in March was marked by a celebration with his Elks “family”, his neighbors and friends, and his daughter, son and their families.
Ed was a decorated veteran of WWII where he served as a bombardier in the 8th Air Force, 466th squadron. He enjoyed attending the 8th Air Force reunions and stayed in contact with many of his fellow servicemen.
The Elks, American Legion, Moose and Freemasons all claimed Ed as a member, and he belonged to or frequented the local golf courses until recent years when his health prevented it.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Judith Pergram (Tim) of Ohio; his son James Snyder (Debi) of North Carolina; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service is planned for this Fall in his birthplace of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
