To the Editor:

Thanks to the Pine Island community for making our recent Southwest Florida Face Mask Crew event so successful! We distributed 220 adult and child-sized masks to Pine Islanders on Friday, July 3, and received over $500 in contributions despite the masks being free of charge. Your generosity helps us purchase supplies so that we can continue to provide masks for those in need at no cost. Thanks to those who picked up masks for keeping themselves and their community safe. Special thanks to Dan and Winn-Dixie for offering us a great place to hold our event.

We also wish to thank all of our many local friends and supporters who made these masks possible, from collecting donations, ironing and cutting fabric, to sewing up the finished products. Truly a labor of love. We will continue to do all we can to help keep our islanders of all ages safe. If we all do a little to stay safe, we help protect our family and friends. We are in this together, and together we are stronger.
