Interested in Kiwanis? Attend a meeting to find out more

To the editor:

Last year I noticed an article from the Lions Club wanting to sell the equipment from the park in St. James City. I decided I would get involved and try to save the park for the children of Pine Island. Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island stepped up and offered their help. During the off season Kiwanis of Greater Pine Island, Kiwanis of Cape Coral, International Kiwanis and State Kiwanis raised $45,000. Local businesses and members of our great community have generously donated. The new children’s equipment has been installed and soon older kids/adult exercise equipment will be installed. Benches and tables will also be added.

The main reason I am writing this letter is to invite everyone to attend a Kiwanis meeting (we meet at Bert’s every Wednesday morning at 8 a.m., for now by phone), see the ways Kiwanis helps children on the island and join our club. A few of the ways Kiwanis helps are: pool parties, Fall Festival, scholarships, Junior Olympics and more. New member fees are waived through Sept 30. I am proud to be a member of Kiwanis and invite you to join a great organization.
