Jesse E Messer Sr

Jul 19, 2019

Jesse E. Messer Sr., of Bokeelia, FL, born December 1960 in Cleveland, OH, passed away unexpectedly at his mother’s home, where he resided, on July 5, 2019 at the age of 58.

Jesse was a good man. He was outgoing, funny and a hard worker. Born in Ohio, he moved to Pine Island, FL at the age of 18 where he spent the majority of his life working as a barge captain and commercial fisherman. He loved the water. Those lucky enough to have known Jesse can whole heartedly say that he was a good friend and had a big heart. He was likeable guy and made friends easily. He loved to grill and smoke mullet just about as much as he loved his Jim Beam. Though, nothing compared to the love he had for his children. He was proud of the adults they had become and cherished the time he spent with them. He will continue to hold a very special place in their hearts.

Jesse is survived and missed by his mother Virginia Patterson; 4 siblings William “Fuzzy” Messer, John “John Boy” Messer, Jake Messer and Francis Castro; 5 loving children Jesse Messer Jr. (Paige), Kari Messer, Ryan Messer (Cherie), Nicole Atamanchuk (Chris), and Angel Clark; 8 beloved grandchildren Kaden, Hunter, J.J., Callie, Nolan, Hudson and soon to arrive twins Hannah and Emma as well as many more extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother George Messer and father Jesse Messer.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Saint James City Civic Association in Saint James City, FL on Sunday, July 28th at 11am. A reception will follow. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
