10th ‘One Hole Over the Pond’ to support veterans
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 136 hosted its 10th Annual “One Hole Over The Pond” golf outing last week at the legion to raise funds to help and support local veterans.
“This has always been one of our most successful events,” former Auxiliary president Claudine Alvarez said. “It’s a great way to raise money for this very worthy cause that assists our veterans in many ways.”
For 10 years golfers and novices have turned out for a fun time. The golf outing ran from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The challenge is to drive the ball over the pond and the four winners are the four balls closest to the pin.
There was also a new putting event this year. The first ball is $5 and mulligans are $1.
While enjoying the golfing events, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and brats were available with salad sides. Music by High Tide kept the event in full swing throughout the afternoon.
The 2019 winners were 1st place, Mike Cover; 2nd place, Lynda Bond; 3rd place, Jim McCune; and 4th place, Jim Whaley.
