Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Tournament April 9
The annual Bobby Holloway Jr. Memorial Fishing Tournament will be held at Pineland Marina Saturday, April 9.
“We are once again teaming with the Edison Big Snook,” tournament director Ernestine Squires said. “The Edison Big Snook Award not only ups the competition, but also gives us the opportunity to provide more enrichment for the youth of our community. We are all excited about this second year of the Edison Snook partnership.”
Along with a day of fishing April 9, participants are invited to the Lil Bobbers Captain’s Dinner Tuesday, April 5, at 6 p.m. at Stonegate Bank. There will be lots of food and goodies for the kids and exciting activities for the children to participate in. This will give the young participants and their parents a chance to meet with the captains and The Bobby Holloway Jr. Board and learn the story of Little Bobby Holloway Jr.
The Bobby Board, along with the charter captains, will be offering a lifetime experience for a full day of fishing, fun and prizes for the kids.
The event kicks off Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m., at Monroe Canal Marina with the mandatory captains meeting held at Monroe Canal Marina at 3105 Stringfellow Road, in St. James City.
This year, the tournament will have cash prizes for the combined weight of one snook, one redfish and one trout, as well as the Edison Big Snook Award for a separate cash prize of $2,500. Teams will have the chance to take home up to $3,750 in winnings, making this the largest payout the tournament has ever offered.
Registration is $300 per four anglers and $50 for each additional angler. Entry fee includes the captains dinner, ramp fees, parking, barbecue, fish fry and captains bag.
The shotgun start is at 7:30 a.m. west of marker #10 southeast of Darling Key in Pineland Channel. Mandatory check-in with tournament director is no later than 8:30 a.m. April 9.
All boats must be checked back in with a tournament official by 3:30 p.m. for weigh-in. Each team may weigh in only one snook, one redfish and one trout. Download complete rules at www.hollowaytourney.org
This is a catch-and-release tournament. Cash prizes will be awarded for the largest legal snook, redfish and trout combined weight. A redfish with most spots can be a different redfish than the weighed in. All fish must be alive.
Prizes: 1st Place, $2,000; 2nd Place, $1,000; 3rd Place, $500; 4th Place, $350; free entry for 5th place. The prize for Edison Big Snook is $2,500.
“I encourage everyone not fishing in the tournament to come out, watch the weigh-in, eat some awesome seafood food and barbecue, take part in the huge raffle and stay and enjoy the beautiful sunset.”
