Jaws of Life Fundraiser March 23
Leoma Lovegrove will make Lovegrove Galleries available to help the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District raise money to purchase new “Jaws of Life” equipment. The ‘Firemen Fest’ will take place Wednesday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The fundraiser will start out with a Vino’s Picasso session to paint the ‘Fire House Groupie’ with me as guest instructor,” Lovegrove said. “And, the Matlacha/Pine Island firemen will assist as special guest painters.”
Last January, Lovegrove donated the original painting to the M/PIFCD to help raise funds to purchase new Jaws of Life. Lovegrove hasn’t donated an original art piece in many years.
“I was contacted by Capt. Bill Russell to do an auction of one of my artworks for the Taste of Pine Island,” Lovegrove said. “There isn’t a better cause than our first responders and I understand the equipment is getting quite old.”
The firemen selected a large painting of a “Leomatized” grouper and renamed the painting ‘”Fire House Groupie.”
Gift baskets and silent auction items from Bert’s Bar, True Tours, Frills, Pure Florida, Sip and Send, Capt. Jack Eco Boat Tours, Cape Coral Balloons, Edison & Ford Winter Estates and Bert’s Pine Bay Gallery will also be available.
The drawing of the winning raffle ticket for Lovegrove’s original art, “Fire House Groupie” valued at $10,000, will be at 3 p.m.
“Raffle tickets can be purchased right up to the drawing and the winner does not have to be present,” Lovegrove said. “Raffle tickets are available at Lovegrove’s Gallery and the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Station. We want to raise a total of $30,000 to buy the Jaws of Life.”
Visit VinosPicasso.com to reserve your seat to paint with Lovegrove and the firemen. For a fee of $100 per person, participants can take their masterpiece home! All money raised at this event will go towards the purchase of a new Jaws of Life.
Lovegrove Gallery and Gardens is at 4637 Pine Island Road, N.W., in Matlacha.
