The circus is coming to Cape Coral, and its bringing a 35,000-gallon water stage with it.

Cirque Italia, the first official traveling water circus in the United States, will present “Aquatic Spectacular” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Pine Island Road and Andalusia Boulevard. The showtimes on Saturday are 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., with shows at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

“The water stage is what really makes this unique,” Nicole Fusco, of Cirque Italia, said.

It is the third or fourth time that they group has performed in the city.

“We do change the show. We change songs, we change costumes, we change artists,” she said on Tuesday. “This time, we are coming with a lot of new equipment and acts, and souvenirs.”

Calling it a “cirque variety show,” Fusco noted that there are no animals featured.

“It’s all about artists showing their skills that they’ve worked on,” she said.

There is a trampoline act and a contortionist, along with twin jugglers from Argentina.

“We actually have two sets of twins,” Fusco said, adding that the second pair are sisters from Texas. “They have really neat intricate makeup and costuming. It kind of makes them look like birds.”

There is a laser man with guns that cause explosions of air and light, as well as a mermaid.

“The little girls love the mermaid,” she said.

Each show lasts roughly two hours and includes from 12 to 15 acts.

“We do have an intermission,” Fusco said.

During intermission, attendees can go on stage and take pictures with the performers.

“It’s just a really fun show,” she said.

Outside of the big tent, children can enjoy fantasy face painting, while the adults have more elegant makeup done. There are also souvenirs to shop for that were brought over from Italy this year.

Food and drinks are also available for purchase on site.

Ticket prices are based on seating.

“We have a very intimate setting inside out tent,” Fusco said. “So, you’re going to have a great view and a great experience at our show no matter where you sit.”

The front row seats, known as the gold seats, are $50 for adults and $45 for children. The blue seats – the most popular seats – are $30 and $15, and the red seats are $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Cirque Italia is currently offering a special of one free child admission with the purchase of a red or blue seat. To take advantage, text “FREE CHILD COUPON CAPE CORAL” to 941-704-8572.

Tickets can be purchased online at cirqueitalia.com; online sales for a show will close an hour before showtime. You can also order by phone at (941) 704-8572 or pick them up at the show site.

Fusco encouraged the public to come and check out “Aquatic Spectacular.”

“It’s a show for all ages,” she said. “We make it for everyone.”
