The American Legion 13th District has a LifeTrike available for a Southwest Florida military veteran. LifeTrike is a handicap-accessible motorbike that allows wheelchair users the option of traveling safely on city streets.

“It’s basically a scooter cut in half to accommodate a wheelchair,” said Rodney Hollingsworth

District 13 American Legion Riders Chairman. “It has a 50 cc so the owner doesn’t need a driver’s license to operate it. We’ve had it for a few months now and would love to find a veteran who needs it.”

The LifeTrike has a travel range of 150 miles or more with speeds up to 30 mph.

“People want the freedom and independence,” Hollingsworth said. “The LifeTrike offers them the opportunity to go shopping, visit friends and family, or just go for a joyride.

The Legion seeks a veteran who could use the LifeTrike.

“I’d really like to give it to a veteran that has a need to get out of the house,” Hollingsworth said. “The owner doesn’t need a drivers license but the vehicle does need to be registered with a license plate. The Life Trike is worth about $20,000.”
