Walking tour of Pine Island Preserve
Join Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast on Saturday, Jan. 30, for a guided nature walk at Pine Island Preserve at Matlacha Pass. The 90-minute walking tour is offered at 9 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. This is a special opportunity to view four different natural habitats critical to the wildlife in the area, and observe a variety of animals, including a nesting pair of bald eagles. Tours will be led by Lee Amos, staff biologist at Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. You will also hear the latest update of the plans for a public nature park at this site. The two-mile dirt trail requires walking shoes or sneakers. Participants should consider bringing a water bottle, small snack, sunscreen and binoculars. Park your vehicle at Flamingo Bay, 7701 Stringfellow Road, Saint James City. RSVP to 941-918-2100 or suzanne@conservationfoundation.com .
