SARPA meetings for 2016
The SARPA organization was founded in 1997 with 18 charter members, and has expanded over the years to approximately 75 members. Originally intended to function as an unofficial arm of the Lee County Medical Society it has transitioned to primarily a social organization, with ties to LCMS, in addition to the Lee Memorial Health System.
The membership consists of retired physicians, dentists, veterinarians, PHD, pharmacologists and is open to doctoral level allied health care professionals and their spouses. The members meet monthly from November to April.
The dinner meetings are designed to have a program of interest to all attendees. Medically scientific topics are usually not presented, however medically related topics of interest to both a medical and non-medical audience are not avoided. The programs span a variety of topics and have included; healthcare by Jim Nathan, CEO, LMHS; Wilson Bradshaw PhD., President FGCU, local authors, community law enforcement, identity theft, sports writers, historians, plus topics appropriate and timely for a maturing professional audience.
Opportunities are available to all members and their spouses to volunteer at the hospitals of LCMS, in addition to providing physician support to the Family Practice residency program, hospital document control, and the medical library.
