Bikers for Babies
The Wicked Sisters’ Motorcycle Club will participate in the 15th annual Southwest Florida “Bikers for Babies” ride Sunday, Nov. 15. The ride begins at North Collier Regional Park in Naples and ends at Six Bends Harley-Davidson in Fort Myers.
“Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts and spectators will come together for stronger and healthier babies with this ride,” Wicked Sisters member Donta Morris said. “This is the 15th year for the event and my 15th year participating. It is one of the biggest rides anywhere and the second biggest for the March of Dimes. I chose March of Dimes ‘Bikers For Babies’ because I love babies, bikes and elders.”
This event brings out individuals and riding clubs to battle it out to be the top fundraiser for the year. That top fundraiser gets to lead the ride the following year. To date “Bikers for Babies” have raised an amazing $1.8 million.
“But you don’t have to be a rider to participate,” Morris said. “Sign up at Six Bends Harley-Davidson to fund-raise, and just have a great weekend.”
Weekend activities include Bike Night and a concert on Friday, car show on Saturday, the ‘Bikers for Babies’ ride on Sunday.
“I also involve myself in other charity causes such as breast cancer, needy, vets, etc.,” Morris said. “Premature birth, which is the number one killer of babies, has affected my family as well as polio.
“This year I’m riding with sweet thoughts for a ‘special little guy’ who I met at the Fort Myers Hooters March of Dimes Kickoff party in August,” Mosrris said. “Little Khris Klock was born at just 26 weeks and spent his first 4 months in Golisano Children’s Hospital fighting for his life. He endured many ups and downs weighing in at just 1 pound and 6 ounces. Little Khris Klock’sstory has a happy side as he is not only survived but is thriving and healthy today.
“I have also added a raffle item as a way of raising money for team Wicked Sisters,” Morris said. “We are raffling off a 44-inch Sanyo flat screen TV to be given away the day of the ride at Six Bend Harley Store in Fort Myers. You can contact me at 239-699-3816.”
