Deadline for Pine Island flag contest entries Nov. 2
The Pine Island Flag Committee continues to accept applications to establish an official Pine Island flag. According to committee chairman Cesar Sanchez, more than 131 members have joined the Facebook Pine Island Flag Creation group.
All entries must be submitted to the Pine Island Eagle before Nov. 2, 2015. No entries will be displayed until after the deadline.
Islanders may “vote” for their favorite flag on the Pine Island Flag Creation Facebook page by pressing “LIKE” for their favorite flag. Islanders may also vote for their favorite flag at the office of the Pine Island Eagle.
To enter the Pine Island Flag Contest, each participant must complete an entry form. That form should be submitted along with their artwork no later than 12 p.m., Nov. 2. All artwork must be original and not computer generated. Participants may use any medium (no photographs or three-dimensional art). Artwork cannot be smaller than 8 inches by 12 inches and not larger than 12 inches by 18 inches (landscape format). Also, one artwork per artist.
All submissions must be original designs created by the artist. The contest is open to all residents and students of Pine Island / Matlacha.
