Beacon of H.O.P.E. open house Nov. 7

2 min read

The Beacon of H.O.P.E. is inviting Pine Islanders to attend its next quarterly open house Saturday, Nov. 7.

“We’ve decided to have an open house every three months,” president Elsie Stearns said. “We want everyone to know what the Beacon is all about and all of the services we provide. This open house will include a bake sale with goodies provided by the SPIRIT and SAS kids. We will have hot dogs on the grill, raffles and 50 percent off most items.”

The community programs staff is putting together a “passport.” As visitors pass through each of the Beacon’s different program areas, they will have their passport stamped. The passport can then be entered into a drawing for a gift basket.

“These events are our way of sharing food, fun and information about what we do,” Stearns said. “We are still working towards the $30,000 match for the community learning center. We have raised $10,000 so far and we are running out of time we have to raise another $20,000 by February.”

The funds collected at the thrift store are not allocated for the learning center match and the funds collected at the Attic go back into the community for various needs and operational of the Beacon.

Come by and take a tour, shop till you drop and enjoy a nice grilled dog.

The Beacon of H.O.P.E. is at 5090 Doug Taylor Circle, St James City, Florida 33956.
