According to police, the SUV crossed the left turn and inside lanes. Entering the outside lane, it struck the front left side and the driver’s door of an eastbound Saturn S-Series, being driven by Konikow.
The impact caused caused the Saturn to travel south, coming to a final rest in the grass between the road and sidewalk. The Chevy also traveled south and came to a final rest in the grassy area.
Both lanes of Hancock were closed for about four hours.
Gavazzi was transported to Cape Coral Hospital for treatment and later released.
