The Pine Island Elks Club will hold its 20th annual Charitable Trust Golf Tournament Saturday, Nov. 7, at Alden Pines Country Club.

“For the last 20 years the Elks golf tournament has donated all of the monies raised with the tournament to Pine Island charities,” Leroy Lippmann said. “Many of the recipients have been scholarships for Pine Island children for college, Little League, Boy Scouts, Beacon of H.O.P.E., Kiwanis, Pine Island Elementary School, camperships for children of Pine Island to the Elks Youth Camp and many others.

“It only costs $50 per person to play and that includes greens fees, a golf cart, lunch with two beverages at the lodge,” Lippmann continued. “It’s a really good deal and we get to help charities on the island. We have goodie bags for players that includes things like golf balls and things like that and Heineken has donated over a thousand dollars with of stuff including 72 of these glasses, golf bags. We also have door prizes for the winners.

“Last year there were 63 players and 20 hole sponsors,” Lippmann said. “The winner of the closest to the line was JoAnn Smith and the winner of the closest to the pin was Jim Morim. Our start time is precisely 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning with a shotgun start.”

The Greater Pine Island Elks Charitable Trust is a 501(c)3 charity under Florida regulations and IRS rules for donations.
