Cape man facing child pornography charges

A Cape Coral man is facing several child pornography charges following a recent arrest.

Michael Alan Manuel, 23, of 4911 Agualinda Blvd., is charged with 10 counts of obscene material possess control view depiction child sex conduct. Authorities took him into custody on Friday.

As of Tuesday, he remained in the Lee County Jail on $100,000 bond.

According to an official document, agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations, along with the Cape police, executed a search warrant at Manuel’s residence. During the execution of the warrant, agents found a laptop drive belonging to Manuel.

A forensic analyst with the FDLE conducted a forensic preview of the hard drive.

During the preview, numerous videos with titles indicative of child pornography were found, the document states. In total, 10 videos labeled as files were identified as child pornography.

The videos included male and female children, as well as adult men.

During the search, agents also located a laptop computer and several media storage devices inside Manual’s bedroom. They reportedly contained video titles indicative of child pornography, too.

The computer and other evidence were seized for further examination.

According to the document, more counts may follow after a complete forensic examination.

On Tuesday, Manuel nor his family could be reached for comment on the allegations.

The Office of the State Attorney’s 20th Judicial Circuit will prosecute the case.

Manuel has an arraignment scheduled for Nov. 16.
