City Council to consider approval of two paving contracts at Monday’s meeting
City Council will be asked at its meeting Monday to approve two resolutions awarding contracts with Community Asphalt Corp. and Ajax Paving Industries for local and major road repaving projects.
The Phase II local road paving project with Community Asphalt is in the amount of just over $4.5 million. The Phase II major road paving contract with Ajax Paving is an amount of just over $3.3 million.
Council also will be asked to approve a renewal of its State Legislative Representation contracts with Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. for $50,000.
The juicier portion of the meeting likely will be an update on the progress of the city’s audit of its fleet management, maintenance and fuel operations. The city operates and maintains a fleet of more than 850 vehicles and assorted other equipment.
The audit turned up some 65 controls that need to be put in place and documentation shows that about 23 of those have been accomplished to this point.
Additionally, a resolution will be discussed asking approval for the city to pay up to the 75th percentile of Fiscal Year 2016 salary ranges for seven non-bargaining employee positions. Those positions include an IT director, utilities collection and distribution manager, water production manager, water reclamation manager, and a traffic engineer in Public Works. Also Fire Deputy Chief and Fire Division Chief positions are included in the request.
Council also is expected to approve the resolution that certifies the results of the primary election held on Sept. 15 and a separate resolution calling for a general election on Nov. 3 and names the candidates for council seats in Districts 2, 3 and 7.
Monday’s meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
