Suspect arrested in July 4th double fatality crash
A Rhode Island man was arrested by Pawtucket police Saturday and charged in a July 4 Cape Coral crash that injured four people, two of whom died as a result.
Montaigu A. Moselle, 36, was charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter, two counts of DUI causing personal injury, and two counts of DUI causing property damage in connection with the crash that occurred at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Skyline Boulevard.
The traffic crash resulted in the death of two passengers in a second vehicle. Paul Ortiz, 85, died that night. Joan Ortiz, 74, died almost two weeks later.
Moselle had a BAC of .214 at the time of the crash, police said.
The Cape Coral Police Department Major Crash investigator completed the investigation and submitted an application for an arrest warrant last week. On Saturday, Cpl. Andrew Satterlee, was advised that the warrant had been approved and was active. Satterlee contacted Pawtucket, RI Police for assistance in serving the warrant and was notified that at 1:50 p.m. that Moselle had been placed under arrest in his hometown. A teletype was received confirming his arrest and hold with no bond, pending extradition to Lee County.
