The Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 136 donated school supplies to the students at Pine Island Elementary School Tuesday morning.

The new school year began Monday.

“We were just discussing at our meeting this morning that we need a few specific items to fill in a couple of gaps,” PIE Principal Rob Mazzoli said. “The supplies the Women’s Auxiliary is delivering today actually fills those gaps.”

Mazzoli was also presented with a check for $550 from the Sons of the American Legion. Sons of The American Legion members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership.

“I can’t thank the American Legion enough,” Mazzoli said. “Every year the Legion Ladies and Sons step up to help our students. These supplies go a long way towards making these students successful.”
