TALC to host forum Wednesday
The Teachers Association of Lee County has announced a series of town hall-style forums for parents, students, teachers and education professionals to have the opportunity to meet, hear from and speak with the members of the Lee County School Board. The first of these forums is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and will feature Board Member Mary Fischer, District 1. The format will be informal and provide the opportunity for attendees to ask questions. It will take place at the Cape Coral Library, 921 S.W. 39th Terrace.
“These forums are particularly important as we head into a new school year and with the impending board expansion from 5 to 7 members. It is every parent, community member and public education employee’s responsibility to learn about their school board members and the direction they envision for our district and the board. This is crucial to the education of our students,” said Mark Castellano, President of the Teachers Association of Lee County.
The Supervisor of Elections’ office will be on site to offer the opportunity for voter registration.
TALC will invite each of the board members to participate in similar forums and looks forward to their response and the opportunity for an open and frank conversation with constituents in Lee County.
The Teachers Association of Lee County (TALC) is the local affiliate of the Florida Education Association, representing teachers and other instructional employees of the School District of Lee County.
