As part of the 2015 Blue Star Museum program, The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum is offering free admission through Sept. 7 for active military and up to five family members. “Since Memorial Day, many military families have visited the Shell Museum and we hope to see many more during this last week of the Blue Star program,” said admissions specialist Priya Lehr in a prepared statement.

The Blue Star Program works in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts, which states on their website:

The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card, a DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. military – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps – and up to five family members.

The Shell Museum is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and noon to 4 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.

The museum is at 3075 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel.
