Island artist makes donation to Sheriff’s Office Heroes Fund
Pine island artist Brian Douglas Roscoe, “Gouch,” celebrated his birthday Aug. 3 at his home on Pine Island. An artist since the age of 2, “Gouch” had about 50 guests at the party where he auctioned off a painting to benefit the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Heroes Fund.
“I named the painting the ‘Asian Hybrid Pregnant Male Seahorse,'” Gouch said. “It was done with pastels and markers and I wanted to raise money for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. So we had an auction and Mr. “V,” who doesn’t want to be named, made the highest bid at $225.25.
“I’d like to thank everyone who donated to my party, especially Mr. and Mrs. “V” who purchased my art for $225.25 for the Wounded Heroes of Lee County,” Roscoe said. “I’d also like to thank all of the local businesses that sponsored my party: Waterfront Restaurant (JD) for sponsoring the Big Rooster contest; Woody’s (Paul) for donating merchandise; Clam Key (Dave) for donating clams; Winn-Dixie (Dan) for sponsoring the watermelon crawl; Saltwater Smokehouse (Randy) for sponsoring the stone throw/roll; Dr. Watson Liquor Store; Roy Kibbe & Co and Pine Island Seed & Garden (Mike & Peaches).
