A Pine Island Flag Committee has been established to create an “official” flag for Pine Island. Cesar Sanchez is the chairman of that committee.

“As the chairperson of the Pine Island Flag Creation Committee, I realized that we need to inform and involve all of the citizens of Pine Island,” Sanchez said. “I’m convinced that a flag representing Pine Island would unify the island’s communities. I have established a Facebook page ‘Pine Island Flag Creation’ so islanders can learn about the contest.

“This flag could become a part of island history and I would like to invite everyone to participate,” Sanchez said. “Flyer/entry forms are available at the Pine Island Eagle office, so stop by and pick up an entry form.”

To enter the Pine Island Flag Contest, each entry must complete an entry form. That form should be submitted along with their artwork.

All artwork must be original and not computer generated. You may use any medium (no photographs or three-dimensional). Artwork can not be smaller than 8 inches by 12 inches and not larger than 12 inches by 18 inches (landscape format). One artwork per artist. All submissions must be original designs created by the artist.

The contest is open to all residents and students of Pine Island / Matlacha.

Entry forms are available at the Pine Island Eagle, 10700 Stringfellow Road, Ste. 60 Bokeelia , FL 33922. The deadline is no later than 12 p.m., Nov. 2, 2015.
