Shell Factory plans big St. Patrick’s Day celebration

2 min read

Even though it’s only heading into its third year, the Shell Factory & Nature Park’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration has quickly become one of the largest in North Fort Myers.

On Tuesday the historic attraction will hold an indoor and outdoor event from 1 to 8 p.m., featuring green beer, dancers, music and a pot of gold’s worth of fun.

The first St. Patrick’s Day event drew about 200 people. Last year’s attendance more than doubled, and this year is expected to be the biggest yet, according to Shell Factory Marketing Director and CFO Rick Tupper.

“Last year we were absolutely packed, so we doubled down on the whole thing,” Tupper said. “People like to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and want to be close to home.”

DJ Ali will start things off at the Swamp Bar, where Happy Hour will be all day with green beer, live Irish music, Irish dancers at 3:15 and a 50/50 Pot O Gold raffle.

At 4 p.m., the fun moves indoors to the Dolphin Room with Irish music from Mike Glean and an Irish feast of corned beef and cabbage. The main event will be the popular costume contest and another Pot O Gold raffle.

The Shell Factory will also have discounts of 10 percent on all merchandise in the Beach Shack, 20 percent off if it’s green.

The Zip Line, fun park and Nature Park will be open.

“This gives all the local communities a chance to celebrate early or later. It’s a fun day if you can stay all day,” Tupper said.

Tupper also announced the Shell Factory will hold a huge Easter celebration on April 5. That event will feature an Easter Egg hunt, which last year drew close to 300 kids, Tupper said.

“These are just more events that are a lot of fun at the Shell Factory,” Tupper said.
