St. James City art, photograph show a success
Cars lined up along 4th and 5th Avenues for the St. James City Civic Center’s annual art and photograph show this weekend. The Art Expo featured about 30 Greater Pine Island artists and photographers.
“This is probably my favorite art exhibit on the island,” Cape Coral resident Kathy Owens said. “My daughter paints and we’ve been coming here for several years now. This is our second visit because we were here last nIght for the reception.”
The exhibition and sale was Saturday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expo artists and photographers (Hot Shots club) were in attendance to answer questions about their art and photographs.
“This is the fifth year for the photo expo,” Harms said. “It has grown from a mere dozen pictures in the first show to 180 photographs last year.”
Pine Island artist Rachi Farrow moved from Vermont to Florida and has been on Pine Island for 22 years.
“My art is made with all recycled materials,” Farrow said. “I create painting, sculpture, drawing, digital drawing and digital photography. The mediums I use are material sourced from post-industrial and post-consumer waste streams mixed with paint, humor, irony, societal taboos, cynicism and positive attitude.”
