Island Time Fashion and Gifts relocates
Nan Patterson, owner of “Island Time Fashion and Gifts,” has relocated her shop to the Century 21 Plaza, 10191 Stringfellow Road, St. James City.
“It was just a year ago, on March 1, 2014, that I opened my first boutique on Pine Island,” Patterson said. “I was in the Pine Island Center behind Subway. It was just a small place featuring gifts, painted furniture, jewelry and one small rack of dresses. A few ‘explorers’ braved their way from Subway, the Barber Shop or the Tropical Hair salon to the shop, and loved looking at all the things, but most seemed to make a beeline to the one rack of dresses.”
After noticing a “need” and listening to her customers, Patterson decided to add more clothing items and expanded her business.
“I realized I was going to need more space and when the building at the plaza opened up, I moved right on in,” Patterson said. “I added more clothing, gifts, jewelry and a new line of shoes called CC Resorts from Australia. My goal was to find beautiful but comfortable clothes and shoes for the ladies of Pine Island, both year-round residents and our ‘snowbird’ population.
“I would like to say thank you to the year-round residents who kept me going during the summer months and now have brought their friends and visitors to come experience the color, fun and comfort of the clothing and shoes in Island Time Fashion and Gifts,” she continued. “I have also been blessed with an armful of very talented artists who hand make jewelry, painted clothing, artwork and decorations that grace my walls and display shelves. Our friendships are as unique as the beautiful pieces they bring me to sell.”
Patterson and Island Time Fashions and Gifts were invited to participate in the 2014 Holiday House of H.O.P.E. at Tarpon Lodge.
“We gathered our wares and displayed them with pride,” she said. “I was so glad to be a part of the Beacon Of H.O.P.E. Christmas fund-raiser that does so much good for the people in need on this Island.”
As the business continued to expand, Patterson realized in less than a year she had outgrown two locations.
“As fate has it, circumstances presented themselves and at New Years, I expanded once again and moved to our newest location in the Century 21 Plaza on Stringfellow. I reopened the shop on Jan. 6 and have been blessed with positive response of both regular and ever expanding new customers.
“One of our upcoming events is the annual Ladies of the Elks Grand Fashion Show on March 28,” Patterson said. “Be sure to get your tickets early at the Elks because they are already going fast!”
Saturday, Feb. 28, will mark Island Time Fashions and Gifts one year anniversary.
“If you dont get a chance to stop by that day, then please feel free to stop by anytime Monday through Saturday. We open at 10 a.m. and are open most days until 6 p.m. so Islanders working also have a chance to stop by after work. Enjoy your spring and as they say in Alabama, ‘See yawl soon!”
