To the editor:

Thank you to the Pine Island Community for its great support at the “One Hole Over the Pond Golf” event held on Feb. 21, at the American Legion Post 136 sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. Thank you to the 90 golfers for participating. A lot of money was raised for the veterans. And congratulations to the winners: Amy Wilson, Jim Nelson and John Heist.

I wish to thank the many sponsors who gave money and prizes to support this event. To the Hookers Inc, Legion Riders, Tropical Hair, Lil Lillys Deli, Alden Pines Country Club, Sea Tow, Tow Boat US, Coral Oaks Golf Course, Lumpy’s, Broadway Palm Theater, Barbara B. Thank you to Smalltown for providing the entertainment. A personal thank you to Linda Mitchell and the bartenders, Wendy and Wendy; and to Pete Baldino and Guylyn DeMeyere for a great job on the grill. Also thank you to Bobbi Burr, Donna Smith, Mary Rose and Sean Kramak, Linda Lewis, Brenda Anderson, Bev Young, Ken and Margo Gadsden,Wayne DeMeyere and Jordan Meyer, the recipient of 2014 Girls State – you all were awesome.

A special thanks to Tommy Buckles, John Heist, “Pine Cone,” Rich and Helen Kendzior and Ray Daubenberger, for their help “at the golf course” and especially to Rick Dryden, without whose support and expertise this would not be possible.

For God and country,
