Vivian June Parker Short, 82, of Bokeelia, FL, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015. She was born on February 13, 1932 in Lupton, MI to Alexander and Mildred Markendorf Parker. Mrs. Short moved to Bokeelia in August 2006 from Naples, FL where she and her late husband Gordon had lived for 16 years. Gordon preceded her in death September 20, 2010. They were married for 60 years. Vivian was a homemaker for most of her life but did some part time work later in life. Volunteering with her children’s activities, Vivian was a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, and chairman of a Music Booster Club to raise money for the music department at her children’s middle school. Vivian and Gordon were on the board for Young Life. She was an Elder at Kirkridge Presbyterian Church in Grand Blanc, MI and a member of an Ecumenical Group that sponsored a Vietnamese family in 1980. She was a Deacon in First Presbyterian Church in Naples and served on several committees. Gordon and Vivian lived in Countryside Country Club in Naples and was the first Social Chairman at Countryside Country Club serving for 3 years. They did a lot of traveling in the last 20 years with some trips being abroad. She is survived by a loving family, including 3 children Gordon (Nancy) Short of Bokeelia, FL, Tamara (late husband Thomas) Porwoll of Racine, WI and Cheryl (Jerry) Smith of Bokeelia, FL; 9 grandchildren Jason (Amanda) Short, Jonathan Short, Brian (Dana) Warden, Jill Ford, Rebecca (Jacob) Zabkowicz, Sarah (Nate) Porwoll Lee, Patrick Porwoll, Kyle Potts, and Jordan Potts; 3 great grandchildren Liran Potts, Logan Zabkowicz, and Brynn Zabkowicz; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving in the loving Parker family are brother Richard (Mildred) Parker; 2 sisters Donna Jane Short and Helen Bobalik; sister in law Marian Parker and several nephews, nieces, members of the Short family and many dear friends.
