Cape driver charged in 2014 hit-and-run
A Cape Coral woman is charged in a hit-and-run crash that put a man in the hospital last year.
Danielle Renee Tuohey, 27, of 1810 N.E. 16th Place, was arrested and charged Tuesday with hit and run fail to stop remain at crash involve injury, according to the booking records at the Lee County Jail.
As of Wednesday, she had been released on $5,000 bond.
At 1:13 a.m. Nov. 24, Ronald James Sears, 42, of 1742 Skyview Drive, Fort Myers, was walking eastbound on Diplomat Parkway, according to the Cape police. In the 2200 block, the front right of a Jeep that was westbound in the outside lane struck Sears head on. Tuohey was the reported driver.
Following the collision, she allegedly fled the scene without stopping.
Sears sustained life-threatening injuries and was trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Tuohey was not injured in the accident.
Hospital officials reported that Sears had been treated and released as of Dec. 30.
Police reported that approximately an hour after the accident, Tuohey and the Jeep returned to the scene. She provided officers with a statement, and the vehicle was seized for evidence.
The crash was not alcohol or drug related, according to officials.
