A Cape Coral motorist was improving Tuesday at the hospital after suffering a medical problem.

Kevin Barry Keinath, 41, of 172 S.E. 17th St., was listed in serious condition at Gulf Coast Hospital, where he was taken Dec. 19 following the incident on Santa Barbara Boulevard, officials reported.

At 7 p.m., Keinath was traveling north on Santa Barbara in the right turn lane in a Kia Forte. According to police, as he approached Nicholas Parkway, Keinath suffered a medical issue. As a result of the situation, Keinath lost control of the car. The Kia veered right off of the road and hit the curb.

Police reported that the car continued to travel in a northeastly direction, until the right front bumper struck a concrete retaining wall at the corner of Santa Barbara and Nicholas. The Kia came to a stop.

Keinath was treated on scene by EMS for the medical problem, then transported to the hospital.

He did not sustain any injuries as a result of the traffic accident, according to police.

The crash is not alcohol or drug related.
